When you love food, it's natural to want to enjoy it, share it, learn from it, and not waste it.

Since you’re reading this, you probably love and value food.

As a registered charity, Food Stash relies on generous donations from the public to rescue food that would otherwise go to waste, run all of our community food programs, and support the 35 community partner organizations we deliver food to each week.

Right now, we’re fundraising so that we can continue to be there for the community and the planet.

It’s exciting to announce that until Dec 31, donations to Food Stash will be matched up to $75,000 thanks to South Flats by PCI Developments and Low Tide Properties.

At Food Stash we're always saying there is enough food for everyone. This is not just optimism; it's a fact.

It's a natural miracle that the land can and does provide enough. It's something to be cherished and not taken for granted.

When we share equally, take only what we need, and value what's there, there's abundance. When we don't, abundance becomes waste.

Food Stash rescues more food than ever before - the equivalent of more than 90,000 meals each month - and makes sure this nutritious food gets to where it’s needed.

Taking the time to share food with others - even when it might seem easier to let some go to waste - connects us to each other and shows care and friendship.

Earlier this month, our Operations Manager, Enrik, was stocking up the 24/7 Community Fridge with vegetables, bread, fruit, and yogurt. Before he left, someone spending time nearby kindly passed a note to him that said:

“Just wanted to say thanks for having a place like this, it sure helps and shows that there’s people who care still.”

The food in the Community Fridge, on the shelves of the Rescued Food Market, and in the meals served by our community partner organizations is food that didn’t get sold because it didn’t look perfect, or because there was too much of it at a certain place and time.

It takes planning, time, resources, and a lot of collaboration to find this surplus food and quickly get it to where it’s needed - and this is work worth doing.

Food is too valuable to waste. For every $1 that Food Stash spends, we can rescue about $3 worth of food that would otherwise go to waste.
